Thank You

I am so lucky to have been blessed with such great friends. I can not thank Margaret, Lea, Abbie, and Colleen enough. Each of you knows what you have been doing for me in this time of need and I could never pay you all back for all of your help. Shealin is blessed too, you guys have really helped her keep on track this week with mommy being layed up. Thank you, Thank you, Thank you. Anything you guys need, let us know and we will be there for you.

Eye Update

Shealin went back to the eye doctor today for a follow up. She has been wearing her patch every day for about 4 hours. The good news is her vision has improved greatly in her left eye, but now she alternates using each one and cannot get them to stay straight together. The bad news is that she needs to have surgery to correct this or she could lose her vision over time. I was not happy to hear this news, but I do not want her to lose her vision either. So I will now sit by the phone and wait for the scheduler to call.

A Day of Fun.

On Saturday, Shealin and I celebrated our first year together with good friends. We went down to the shore to visit Abbie(who should have been in China with us) and her family. We picked up Colleen and Lea along the way. Shea had fun swimming with her new best friends Jenny and Pam. We finished the day by going to the boardwalk for some rides and games. It was a fun, fun day. I know Shealin had a great time.

Forever Family Day Anniversary!

One year ago today, I walked into the Chongqing Civil Affairs office a single woman with a dream, full of anticipation and excitement. An hour or so later I walked out a mom, a dream come true. In my arms a tiny little wiggle worm with spiky hair, and a smile that could melt the hardest of hearts. Nothing could have prepared me for the feeling of instantaneous love and devotion for this new little person in my life. I knew in those first few seconds that we were meant to be together, and that I would do anything for her. On this day I give thanks to her birth parents, I can only hope that you know she is happy, safe and in a loving home. I have had so much fun this year watching her grow and discover the world around her. I look forward to many more. Enjoy the videos, I had to post two, because it was 18 minutes long.

A Musical Moose and a Future PS2 player.

Shealin has had a busy week at daycare. On Thursday, Marsha the Musical Moose came for a visit. Not sure what they sang etc. but I have a nice picture of her and the moose. Shea has also been intrigued with the playstation lately. By the way she holds the controller, I think I will have to fight her for it in the future.

One Year Ago

One year ago, I boarded an airplane to complete the journey that I had started so long ago. The day was so hot and Lea and I had the worst Limo ride ever. We had to ride with the heat on and the windows open so the car would not break down. I guess that was just a prelude to how hot it was going to be in China. After 3 plane rides and 4 movies later we arrived in Beijing. It was 9:30 at night and so hot and humid. We went to bed a short time after arriving. We went a couple of days ahead of the rest of the group and I am glad we did, as we were well rested once it was Shealin day.

Take the picture, take the picture!

I love outfits with hats. Shea, is not always happy about them, but she is learning to let me at least take a picture before she throws it on the floor. She is getting her eyeteeth right now and that is not fun. I thought molar teething was tough, but this is a whole new ballgame. Moms in waiting take note! Teething tablets are a must.

Just Need to Vent!

Shealin is very active, I mean she is 2 and that's what 2 year olds are all about. So why, oh why every time I am at some kind of party etc. does everyone have to say " I bet you never thought you would be this busy" or some variation of that. Geez, it is so annoying. Does everyone think I was born yesterday and put absolutely no thought into motherhood and what it would/could be like? OK, now that I have that off of my chest we can get back to regular blogging.

Happy Fourth!

It was a very overcast fourth here, but we did go to a picnic. Shealin had a great time jumping on the trampoline with her cousin Kelly and dancing with her cousin Megean. She didn't seem to mind the fact that the sky opened up and poured buckets of rain down on us. She loves her cousins and can't wait to see them again. Happy 4th everyone.

Shealin's Newest Fashions

Here are some pictures of what Shealin likes to wear around the house right now. Her sunhat, diaper and my socks. Yep, my socks.
